In John 20:11–18, Mary Magdalene stands outside the empty tomb weeping, convinced that Jesus is gone. But the risen Jesus meets her in her pain, calls her by name, and turns her from a mourner into a messenger. This message is about what happens when the risen Christ meets us personally: He enters our grief, restores our identity, brings us into relationship with the Father, and sends us out with good news.

If you are walking through sorrow, confusion, failure, or a season where God feels distant, this passage reminds us that our pain is real, but it is not the final word. Jesus knows us personally, calls us by name rather than by our sin, and gives us a new identity rooted in Him.

And when we encounter the risen Jesus, we are not meant to keep that hope to ourselves. Like Mary, we are sent into the world with a simple but powerful message: “I have seen the Lord.” Resurrection turns grief into hope, identity into restoration, and encounter into mission.
